Broker of immovable property is a natural person who performs commercial activity by undertaking mediation in dealing in the market of immovable property: purchasing, selling of immovable property, transactions with lease, hire, rent and change of immovable property, and other deals in the task and on behalf of a client in compliance with a certified power of attorney and an agreement;
Agent of immovable property is a natural person who performs commercial activity by undertaking mediation in dealing in the market of immovable property: purchasing, selling of immovable property, transactions with lease, hire, rent and change of immovable property, and other deals in the task and on behalf of a certified broker in compliance with a power of attorney or an agreement certified by a notary.
Certified broker or agent can be a natural person who:
- has achieved higher or secondary and special (professional) education;
- has passed qualification examination at Immovable property educational support center of Corporation of Latvian immovable property brokers and agents, in special (professional) education;
- has achieved practical skills, by performing transactions with immovable property at least for two years: for obtaining of certificate of broker;
- has a good command of the official language in the level provided in normative acts;
- has confirmed decision to take into consideration and to fulfil requirements of the code of professional ethics;
- has reached the age of 18.
